alt Hacker NewsThe more I look into MCP, the less I understand the hype. It's an OK API that describes how to fetch list of tools and resources and retrieve them, somehow this is supposed to be the standard for AI and environment communication, and...that's it? Am I missing something vital there?

Yep, it's like 5 json schemas in a trench coat. Not not useful but also not some revolution. The biggest win seems to be just convincing rando 3rd parties to go along with it.
