alt Hacker NewsUnlikely, KDE has well-respected developers who have been around forever who run and maintain it on BSD. No one would tell these guys to pound sand for the minor convenience that systemd brings. IMO, KDE developers (I'm a mostly inactive one myself) are generally too eager to rely systemd, but they aren't extremist about it.

I don't oppose leaning on systemd for small non essential things like this, especially if there's an easy replacement for non systemd systems
Thanks, that is reasuring. It was the comment by the supposed KDE developer on the reddit thread not vlabout leaning more on systemd that worried me. I thought it would have been called out here or on forum thread if wrong.
