There's this joke being told in my country:

  The hare is walking through the forest with a pile of papers, when he encounters the wolf. The wolf asks: `what are you writing?' and the hare says `it's a thesis on the superiority of hares over wolves'. So the wolf gets angry and tries to beat up the hare but is quickly lifted into the air by the bear. 

  The bear says: `You should've asked first who the _thesis supervisor_ is'

These days you have to wonder if some form of bribe took place.
