The core problem isn't that AI is stupid - it's that the product design fundamentally misunderstands what users want from a DJ.
A human DJ reads the room. They watch reactions, adjust energy levels, create narrative arcs through a set. Spotify's AI has none of that feedback loop - it's essentially a playlist generator with a voice overlay.
This is a common pattern in AI products: taking a human role, automating the mechanical parts, but missing the judgment and adaptation that made the human valuable.
The fix isn't "better AI" - it's redesigning the interaction model. Let users give real-time feedback. "More like this", "change the mood", "I'm bored". Give the AI actual signals to respond to instead of guessing from historical data.
Without that feedback loop, you're not building an AI DJ. You're building shuffle with extra steps and a condescending voice.
