I never said this. But I do spend hours every single day collecting data on the middle east from local sources, understanding the sentiment and actual events which is often grossly misrepresented in the media, let alone social media which I consider a lost cause. I am deeply familiar with the powers and the leaders of the region, the internal politics, motives and the cultural differences, which is something most westerners don't understand in the slightest.
I spent significant time in multiple locations in the ME.
So of course I'm not the world expert on the Middle East. But I honestly believe that my familiarity with this topic is way above average. And most people just watch some TikTok videos and form an opinion, which is a shame, but it is what it is.
I also very much dislike discussing these topics here. If it were possible I'd remove geopolitical discussions from HN entirely. It would be a shame if this place became another Twitter or reddit.

It gives me an indication that uninformed netizens "flag" comments they disagree with, because I haven't said anything that goes against the rules. Flagging is for misconduct, not for getting angry that someone else actually knows their way around the ME and it doesn't align with your expectations.
