If your argument boils down to "individuals just need to use it the right way" then I ask you to kindly use that same framing for driving cars, owning guns, etc. and then rethink your position.

It turns out that when the use of a tool has external consequences for misusing it, it's important that there are structures in place for penalizing the misuse of that tool.
