The thing is these substrates of mutual support also form with their own rules, insiders, power structures, etc. It can be an effective support network for some people, but has just as many issues with membership and behavior requirements as everything else.
Like it's a simple enough concept of community, but I've been around enough of these to know they always sort of nucleate around power and wealth. Which just reflects the structures they supposedly rebel against.
