Thats not an accurate framing. There are some disagreements that are red lines and others that are not. I think Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest games of all time, and someone disagreeing with me on that point is not a big deal. A hyperbolic example of the other side would be a Nazi's opinion on Jewish people. Given the nature of that opinion, not only would I disagree with them it would also be completely appropriate to fully disassociate with them and highly encourage others to do so.

People draw lines in different places, and what you are doing here is implying that it is unreasonable for people to take that level of issue with DHH's "gypsy" comment. I disagree. I think its completely reasonable to view that as unacceptable and to disassociate from that person.

Your comment suggests that all disagreements are equal. I would get email service from someone who likes Ruby more than Python, even if I disagree. I, like the author of the post, wouldn't get email from someone I knew was virulently racist as DHH is.
