Is this a real thing that happens anymore? I don't recall when the last time someone made a new genuine connection through one of the major social media platforms (speaking of IG, FB, Twitter, primarily). LinkedIn, I guess comes to mind, but that's just been mostly career connections/job searching, and maybe Discord. Pretty much everyone I know (in my age range around 25-30) has only met new people from either participating in social settings in real life (climbing gym, playing volleyball, in person events), or through friends of friends. Otherwise it seems like most people just use IG or other DM's to try to hit on people or sell them something (usually unsuccessfully).
