Farmed fish is somehow considered ecologically harmful but it's significantly less harmful than overfishing and allows for bringing extremely efficient, healthy food to the continental interior, which has the potential to reduce heart disease without medication.
It's so narrow-minded to treat farmed fish as some moral failing.

The Pacific salmon fisheries in North America are generally well managed. Overfishing isn't really a huge threat as a result. In fact you could argue that commercial wild salmon fishing is ecologically beneficial insofar as it brings resources and monitoring to the salmon populations and an economic incentive to keep them healthy.
When it comes to wild salmon (which are definitely under some threat) the far bigger issues are believed to be related to habitat. Dams blocking their transit and high water temperatures are two prominent issues.
