Is the policy now to "harvest whatever we can ASAP" without any regard or consideration for the future or the environment?

I wonder how much these people understand that if you kill everyone or put them under serious resource strain because of environmental collapse, there's no one left to pay anything to you. How hard is that to understand? Don't pull the trigger, because yes, right now you don't have a bullet in your foot, but in a few milliseconds...

Given the degree of corruption and criminality, a more appropriate metaphor might be "smash and grab".
