I can appreciate the pain of trying to bind against GTK4 with a functional language. You definitely get a lot of difficult-to-verify and special-case boilerplate C code.

designing something using gtk4 but it doesn't work in gnome is odd.

I am being rude but why are people investing in a bar that ONLY shows icons? This dock thing is a wasteful concept invented by OSX that somehow people think worth copying.
