alt Hacker NewsThis does not answer my question, I need something that can do thing, not how it is licensed. I have used Kdenlive, and it's nowhere near either of these functionality-wise, and struggles with big files.

Unlikely to be near that polish and feature completeness. If you ask "then what's the point?", for now the answer is the license and the source availability.
