People just don't care. They are happy with monopolies and surveillance capitalism.

Once in a while someone talks about digital sovereignty, but much like climate change, nothing will be done (successfully) about it.

That's how it is, I've come to terms with it.

Agreed. All the more reason to do what we can to make things better than they otherwise would be. Outcomes are never black and white.

I'm not sure why this is being downvoted.

Do people care? What signs of this are there?

Does it matter to the average person that the society is marching further and further down the road of digital monopolies and surveillance capitalism? My impression certainly is that the percentage of people who care about this is so small that it might as well be a rounding error, while on the other side I see tremendous momentum, effort, and cunning.

Actually I believe for most normal people it is a feature of other platforms that they don't have to appear to be associated with weirdos who use terms like "surveillance capitalism".
