I thought electing an outsider with theretofore no experience nor interest in governing was supposed to break the system in a good way so as to erase the incumbent problems and rebuild with common sense and integrity.
The problem with government was that wealthy charlatans were rigging the system in their own favor. Naturally, the solution was to put a wealthy charlatan in charge of the whole thing and eliminate the middle man.
Well, that reads like the justification you want to give to yourself after the fact.. the interesting question is what's the real reason...
Giving someone without common sense and integrity unchecked power is probably not a good way to obtain common sense and integrity in your government.
