You can root most LG TVs but I'm not sure an alternative firmware exists or if it's even feasible.

Ahh that’s great - been waiting for something that works with my firmware for my LG TV (a C1). Any idea, once rooted, what commands I can run just to disable all the ads, bloatware and spyware?
