$1999 is ridiculous.

Edit: Wow, I didn’t know Samsung foldable was priced similarly. It’s a lot of money to pay for something inherently fragile.

While I won't pay it, it seems pretty comparable to other flagship foldable from Google and Samsung.

Plenty of people on HN earn that much money in a single day after tax.

I think there were rumors going even higher since Apple is so often a premium priced product.

Matching their top competitor in price is a good look.

They could’ve absolutely floored everyone if it had been $1500, but there’s no way that’s possible, at least having margins anywhere near what Apple likes.

We'll have to see but it has a titanium frame with Ceramic shield front and back.

Obviously Apple knew where other foldable phones fell short; they clearly planned to overcome those shortcomings.

The retail price of the equivalent Samsung phone is $1900 (1899) - or $2100 for their 'Ultra' phone. Seems just in line to me.

My first thought is what happens when I drop a $1999 device and break it.
