alt Hacker Newsx-axis is encoding speed, Y-axis is BD-rate where higher is better. aperture-alpha is an upcoming encoder from Halide Compression, no more details than that. libaom and SVT-AV1 are both for AVIF; libaom is the AV1 reference encoder.

Bit of a nit, but can you add that as a note to the legends/graphs in the future? As a layperson, it helps us to orient to graphs with unknown metrics.

Wait... SVT-AV1 doesn't support anything else than 4:2:0, right? Kinda biases the comparison here.
