It’s unfortunate, but we have permanently lost way more stories and are losing them at catastrophic rates today as technology and globalism eradicate local and indigenous cultures and languages/dialects.
Where I am, a cultural shift in the 90's [television!], created a 'more common' language from one end of the country to another. Dialects are dying, accents are being smoothed out: a country with character is becoming very bland.
