alt Hacker NewsSome of this stuff does feed into the perception though. Flock provides more footage for media to clip, for example. Or you can look at Ring cameras and people getting worked up about joggers or neighborhood kids because now they get alerts and have neighborhood chat groups, etc.
It really ticks me off that Rings cameras are pointed at the sidewalk.
When questioned about owning them, people like to talk about security, convenience, porch package theft, etc, none of which require the devices to have a field of view extending beyond the property line. And yet, somehow they just conveniently contribute to a police-searchable database of everyone that walks past their house, with no recourse.
