Maybe you saw "generating"? It may interest you to know that batteries output is counted among "generation" by the EIA and nearly all grid documents I know about, and is also technically correct.

Natural gas is merely stored solar energy too, if it the ideas of batteries "generating" anything rubs you the wrong way.
