I don't think its realistic to expect things will revert, ever. This is new era that will continue, things could improve a bit in best case scenario but damage is permanent and hard lessons are being learned. What good is a peer that has roughly the same values and approach to freedom/democracy/capitalism if it keeps stabbing you in the back randomly on morning whims or plain old corruption.
