Meta is the what makes this more interesting. It tells the story of a single company highlighting the overall problem. This is journalism 101. Anyone reading this is going to understand the issue isn't that Meta is breaking a law, but rather that the laws are setup in such a way that Meta can use them like this, and probably has undo influence to get it written this way.
Further, while they are doing this, it might not be what lawmakers intended.

Yes, that's what I mean. That said - Meta is likely knowingly breaking rules, which is unethical, they deserve blame as well, but the framing should be more holistic.
