And the problem with that is that at some point people just vote with their money, their feet and the future wealth they're going to create and GTFO to greener pastures.
There is such a ting as diminishing returns on insane taxation. France is an example. But billionaires leaving California is a thing too.
I did personally decided my native country gave me jack shit in return for my taxes: the only thing it'd give me would be ever more public servants collecting ever more taxes, all the while driving my native city (Brussels / Belgium) into the ground.
So I packed my stuff and left for a country with less taxes and which is, IMO, better managed and where you don't feel like the state's only mission is to turn you into someone poor by seizing all your wealth.
