Incredible blog post! I've been very much disagreeing with most mathematicians on this topic and also getting kind of annoyed at how ineloquent they are at getting to the point.

This on the other hand has actually kind of swayed me over? I think it's still a massive net-benefit for society but I resonated a lot with the author's feelings and I want to understand how to cope with them myself, perhaps by joining groups of people who are still interested in pure software (which AI is a part of now).

The -30IQ line in particular reminded me of DHH's ramblings on Twitter the past few days.

Privacy community will probably never stop valuing that the code is actually human-readable with human level intent, purpose, and clarity, and that someone has read it hundreds of times and written it to be read that many times. It's been extremely interesting to work with ever better models to try to have it produce code that can do that, but with the clarity demands, LLMs still struggle doing anything more than accelerating a small subtask.
