You're not automatically a "parasitic drain" by not constantly going above and beyond. It's okay to pace yourself in order to give a consistent, reliable output. If it avoids catastrophic burnout, that's better for the company because they get to keep you, and don't have to hire and train your replacement.
That's not phoning it in. That's just doing your job. Think more of the people who send prs that dont compile or even do what they say they do.
