Karpathy is a great guy, I love the way he teaches, but should we really trust his opinions about software development (how AI can impact it)?
I know he can code and has a degree in computer science, but if I'm not mistaken he's never worked professionally as a software developer.
Developers here know how much you learn and are forced to learn on the job: it depends a bit on the company you're at, but you can quickly learn the value of good code, how easy it is to introduce bugs and vulnerabilities, and how helpful a second eye is.
I think he's in good faith in his assessments, but, at least for what concerns development, maybe we should give them less weight.
