Maybe in the hopes that some relatives or acquaintances would read and pass the word?
I find the article cute, for one. A little thing in itself in a world obsessed with immediate results, for a change.
I know that church, and I know one of the people in the photo on the sleeve - and have sent the blog post their way - so it's definitely nice to have seen it.
I didn't expect to see that church mentioned on the front page of HN, and it's very unlikely I would have seen the blog post any other way!
