The author mixes "Science" and "Mathematics". Mathematics is not a science. There is nothing empirical about it. By mixing the two concepts, a reader might think that AI is on the verge of solving all of science. Until AI gets good at digging large circular holes in the in the ground, I think Experimental Physics is safe.

Maybe math is more like a science now, though? It's as if ancient astronomers saw the results from a modern telescope. "Why even look at the sky anymore," they might ask. "And we don't even own the telescope!"

Maybe the answer is to look into how Big Science works? There's still plenty of work to be done figuring out what to do with the outputs from these new math-observing instruments.

I had visions of large automated warehouses full of chemical and biological components hooked up to science machines to do everything from mixing, boiling and printing to spectrograph and robotic assembly. Smart computers and humans would pick the experiments to brute force with exact billing.
