They appear to be stating what’s essentially the official position of one of the parties if that’s evaluated based on actions. So is it really satire?

It's the unironic view of most of the US media as well.
(The UK media are similar, but we did manage to get rid of the most disastrous budgetary Prime Minister Liz Truss in a couple of months)
