I don't think Verisign is above doing these kinds of financial crimes, but until the lawsuit has been won, nothing is proven. Plus, the lawsuit will most likely be settled if the allegations are true, rather than actually applying the law; class action lawyers are in it for the money, after all, not for enacting justice.
