In Berlin, the left (a party literally called The Left) was leading and eventually implementing an initiative to privatize tens of thousands of city-owned housing units. The same left which has just been elected to re-collectivize those same housing units.

(Tbf when they did the first of these two things, lots of housing units were unpopular and empty.)
