Somebody did do this. They used a tool and created something which did not previously exist.

There isn't any utility for a lot of stuff but we do things for various reasons.
Is the author did this purely out of curiosity or for fun, is it bad because it wasn't done painfully.

You're either incredibly naïve, or haven't realized that it is an astroturfed post by a swiss consultancy to sell more of their services. It isn't done out of "love for Switzerland". Love for the money Switzerland can make, maybe. Or, considering your entire posting history, a sealioner here to waste people's time. Either way, it's not looking good for you.
