alt Hacker NewsA simple solution would be for all trains to have self recoding GPS which they probably all have and log their location on an internet map plus marking all the switches and allow open viewing to public and passengers to monitor their own train versus others. Ai can also be used to set the alarm.

Insane take. This has like 10x the number of failure modes than a proper signalling system with verifiable software design.

how is GPS going to differentiate between two trains on a collision course vs. two trains on separate, but neighbouring tracks?
