Yen's behavior, per the OP, is nothing like optimism. Optimists not only see a brighter future, they are positive and inspire that in others. Steve Jobs was an optimist (at least publicly), to pick a random person.

Yen says there is an existential crisis, Proton employees must adjust to survive, and those who don't agree or raise concerns are losers. Yen's behavior also strongly implies a future of abuse.
