Algae aren't plants?! I guess I need to dive back into taxonomy.
They're eukarya, but their kingdom is protist (i.e. the catch-all kingdom for stuff that's not an animal, fungi or land plant).
But outside of taxonomy, it's not incorrect to call them plants.
