And I'd add language. With vim, you can hardwire your brain to your keyboard / editor, and use some sort of language to almost unconsciously express what you want to do. Like edit a typo, move a work, move a paragraph, capitalize this, etc.
Without vim, your language is limited to very basic actions that you need to repeat ad nauseam.
