alt Hacker NewsNatural gas power production is by far the cleanest and most available for this use case. Nuclear would be better but can't be brought online fast enough. Solar/Wind would be best but there's not enough yet either and behind the meter generation isn't even feasible. All things considered, natural gas is the best fit.
