I’m also reminded of the clowns pushing “it’s smaller!” container images based on social media vibes rather than analysis where, yes, not using Debian+glibc saved tens of megabytes on the base OS but did so at the expense of measurable performance reductions & compatibility issues like the one you mentioned, and literally every single one of those dudes I worked with was shipping containers pushing a gigabyte so the size reduction had no measurable impact on deployments.
