Relocation: Case-by-case

I'm a CTO, expert engineer, and data professional interested in team-building, consulting and architecting data pipelines. At Edmunds.com, I worked on a fairly successful ad-tech product and my team bootstrapped a data pipeline using Spark, Databricks, and microservices built with Java, Python, and Scala.

At ATTN:, I re-built an ETL Kubernetes stack, including data loaders and extractors that handle >10,000 API payload extractions daily. I created SOPs for managing data interoperability with Facebook Marketing, Facebook Graph, Instagram Graph, Google DFP, Salesforce, etc.

More recently, I was the CTO and co-founder of a gaming startup. We raised over $6M and I was in charge of building out a team of over a dozen remote engineers and designers, with a breadth of experience ranging from Citibank, to Goldman Sachs, to Microsoft. I moved on, but retain significant equity and a board seat.

I am also a minority owner of a coffee shop in northern Spain. That I'm a top-tier developer goes without saying. I'm interested in flexing my consulting muscle and can help with best practices, architecture, and hiring.

Would love to connect even if it's just for networking!

Ex-FAANG. I've spent my recent career leading engineering teams of 10+ to ship world class products. Expertise in managing product timelines, overseeing architectural design/implementation, & keeping companies ahead of their competition. As an IC, I love to dig deep into technical problems, ship products with full autonomy/ownership, and make products look beautiful (see some old work at www.beaver.digital).

I have been getting wonderful offers from great companies but am still on the job market because I suffer from an unfortunate health condition that makes my sleep rather erratic. My working efficiency is still exceptional, energy levels are great, and my output is the best it’s ever been, but I sometimes start work as late as 10:30am pst which is unacceptable for most companies. Anyways, if this won’t be a problem for your team I’m happy to hear from you. I’ll be happy to make accommodations for you if you’re willing to make this one for me.

I'm excited to hear from you! :)

Where I come from: I've worked for NASA , as a System Administrator and Operational Test Conductor, helping to run field ops as well as maintain security , provision and administer their launch systems.

I've helped run operations involving multiple sites and multiple groups around the Country to that involved testing aspects of space hardware ,software involving multiple various teams and groups.

I currently am part of the requirement testing process for NASA's Launch Control Software and help design tests ,ensure the software is up to spec , and that it meets requirements for Artemis 2; putting the software through it's paces for our ultimate launch (and as the software comes along since future launches such as Artemis 3 and beyond will build directly from this) I'm also helping to plan the tests that will help ensure Artemis 2's communication links are set for launch.

I'm a team-orientated, friendly, detail focused technologist with a eye towards expanding and delving more into the development side of tech, leveraging my experience in administration and operations over, and getting a little deeper to working with the innards that make things tick and being able to tweak them,.

Hi! I'm a recently graduated UWaterloo CS alum with 1.5 years of experience in software development. My primary focus is web development, but I've worked in other areas of software as well, from internal tools for network management to back-end code for a Linux desktop application, so I'm very flexible in what kind of software I work on. I also have a strong interest in compilers/programming languages and would be interested in related roles.

I am an excellent collaborator and leader, which I honed through volunteer work in several university organizations, including being the executive director of a endowment fund which grants money to student orgs/projects and editing a beloved math student publication for almost two years.

I love learning new things. If I have experience with almost everything you're looking for, please feel free to reach out anyway; I will readily learn whatever might be needed.

Hi there, I'm Branko! I'm seeking a part-time role (15-20 hours/week) in a small startup/SaaS, some sort of a product or support engineer position. I'm a generalist who enjoys working across the stack, from front-end to back-end and everything in between.

My background includes customer support and front-end development, and I'm always eager to learn new technologies. Last year I launched my own project (https://gorby.app) so I've experienced the full cycle of building, designing, and deploying a product. I'm currently working on improving it, redoing the landing page, and pivoting to more of a text editor.

If you're looking for someone who can wear multiple hats and contribute to various aspects of your product, I'd love to chat!

Willing to relocate: yes, to any location in Africa, where I can get the necessary permission to live and work.

Technologies: Linux, Fullstack, System Administration.

Contact: Email: see profile or http://codingforafrica.at/

Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.

While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.

I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.

I am also open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.

In addition, I want to use part of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.

I'm a senior full-stack developer with an aspiration for team/product lead or CTO-like position. For ~7 years I was co-founder and CTO of an ed-tech company called: amy.app . My co-founder and I scaled the company to about 25 employees. Before that I gained a PhD in Human Robot Interaction in NZ. Currently I'm exploring how LLMs, in particular vision, can be used to automate back office jobs. I'm very product/customer focused and pragmatic. I like to move super fast. My dream environment is an early-stage/full-remote startup. PS: I have a family, that means the main compensation via shares isn't an option for me. PPS: to demonstrate my speed: Here is an LLM project I fully(!) developed within 48h. It even got some traction on HN: https://www.line-items.com/

You need a Technical Writer. You have developers that have trained extensively to talk to computers often in multiple languages. And it is hard enough to write documentation for other developers. Asking them to create documentation talking to users, system administrators, DevOps and management are even more dialects because they speak in their own jargon, and it costs a lot of their very expensive time. I know technology, hardware, software, firmware and more. In tech, medical, aerospace, automotive and IT industries. I can do the translating for developers so they can concentrate on making the hard stuff. I also know user experience (UX) I can guide you to make better user interfaces and keep you from making those mistakes that cripple many products.

General comments:

I would really like to combine my two sets of expertise - I've done original engineering projects (design and calculation -> BOM -> buy -> build -> ship) projects and have executed on the product lifecycle for large software solutions in Python, but I've never had the opportunity to use both sets of skills in the same role at the same time.

Additionally, my resume doesn't necessarily reflect what I am capable of; it only reflects the resources I've had available and the needs of my employers over time. More than anything else, I love to learn, solve problems, and educate others.

I'm Mark, I've over 20 years industry experience working with all sorts, from startups to household names to solo entrepreneurs. I live semi off-grid (with electricity and internet of course!) in my touring caravan, currently in South Wales.

Although I love coding, I understand that soft skills are essential. Communication: to help convert ideas from a person's head into something which can be structured as code, and to properly manage expectations. To prioritise rationally. To raise issues when they become significant, not leave them to the last minute and cause panic.

Although I prefer Linux, I'm comfortable with Windows/Android/MacOS/iOS and maintain at least 1 working device for each of those OSes (so on multi-platform projects I can test on the real thing).

I'm particularly into repairability and getting the most out of cheaper, lower-powered devices.

I'm looking for short-term, full-time projects, or longer part-time commitments (eg 1-2 days a week, few hours a month on retainer) but am open to other ideas.

I'm looking for an ML engineering gig. I can help you gather data, preprocess it, design models, train models, etc etc. My ideal job would be doing generative AI stuff with images/audio/video, but I'm open to anywhere there's gradients to descend. Recently I've been working on a project building a text-to-image model that learns solely with unlabeled image data, relying on CLIP for the link between captions and images[1]. I think it's a) cool and b) demonstrative of strong abilities. At a higher level of abstraction you can think of this as embedding guided content synthesis. The model learns to generate images conditioned on their CLIP embedding being within an input spherical cap. If you center the cap on the CLIP embedding of some text you get images that look like they'd have that caption, if you center it on the embedding of another image you get semantically similar images. The radius of the cap determines how similar the outputs are.

SEEKING WORK - remote, email in profile.

Location: West coast, remote only.

Technologies/techniques: Machine learning/AI, LLM's/RAG/KB's, Transformers, GenAI, MCMC, MCTS, Bayesnets, Neural architecture search, Python, Pytorch/Tensorflow/Keras, All the tools surrounding ML and AI, A whole host of others.

I'm a data scientist who's worked with companies you know. I'm looking for the next project. I just lost a large project with an airline to a large consulting shop, so I'm available right away.

The project was network scheduling during cascading failures in airline routes. A pilot calls in sick, or a plane has an unrepairable fault. How does the airline reschedule crews/planes to keep the maximum number of flights/passengers satisfied, taking into account cascade effects. Involves some deep ML, and some really trick optimization methods.

I've worked on other projects including large language models, knowledge extraction, and the usual ML stuff - failure prediction, translation, maintenance optimization, automated sports highlights, and more. I've also done some more interesting work including vehicle route planning in constrained environments.

The perfect fit is a small/medium sized company with a hair on fire green or brownfield problem that needs solving.

I'm available immediately, and champing at the bit before boredom sets in. Email in profile.

Email: tomplick AT gmail.com

For the most part, my résumé only has my professional experience on it. To see more of what I've done, please visit my work summary at https://www.amecy.com/work/ . In particular, if you play chess, check out my chess training site at https://www.checkmatechamp.net/ . That site runs on the Google Cloud Platform and uses Python on the backend. The frontend is a mix of vanilla JS and OCaml (using js_of_ocaml).

My experience at startups has helped me learn how to build systems, and how to keep them running, simply and with minimal resources. (For example, as of this writing, Checkmate Champ has been running for 783 days without my intervention.)

I have learned a lot of languages over the years that I never got the chance to use in a professional setting, including Lisp, OCaml, Haskell, and Smalltalk. If you are using one of these, I would love to hear about it.

I am a data engineer / full stack dev / bioinformatician, with a number of turns in my career so far. After graduating from a prestigious university and landing a high earning job in 2014, I left it in 2016 for a role in a research institute, and then worked in life sciences and did contract work on the side, until in 2022 AI became big and I joined a healthcare start-up. The start-up was a fine gamble but did not really work out so since April this year I'm temporarily hacking on a non-commercial project on the side to being a dad, and looking for more opportunities to do worthwhile work.

I am good at turning prototypes into products, and orienting myself in novel domains.

Over the years I was able to do plenty of meaningful work, in academic, commercial, and non-profit contexts, and I would quite like to continue. If my profile - the CV or one of the technologies listed - is a match for you, do send me an email!

Computers are an incredibly powerful tool, and I am always looking for ways to help others take advantage of that power. To that end, I have worked on projects ranging from configuration management (with a focus on deep integration with Linux and commercial Unix platforms) to blockchain (focusing on real-world assets and actual applications for the technology).

My main technical skills are in systems/lower-level programming. I enjoy the challenge of making complex functionality work in a performance-constrained environment. But I also know that code doesn't live in a vacuum, and I care a lot about making sure what I'm building actually solves problems for the business and the customer. I am always looking for opportunities to work more closely with stakeholders to ensure me and my team are on the right track.

I have lots of experience supporting interns and junior engineers, and always love opportunities to be a teacher or mentor. Looking for someone to help your team level up on Rust? I could be who you're searching for!

I want to help create cool stuff. I'm looking for UI and UX positions, as well as more junior web development work. My experience is graphic design, web development, and UI design. My standards are high and I like to keep things efficient.

More than anything I'm into usability. I like making lives easier. I'm always thinking about how we can improve the tech we use.

I can do some basic front-end web development. Plain old HTML and CSS are my tools of choice. I can hack together some JavaScript given enough time. By far the most impressive JavaScript I have cobbled together is for an open-source web site I built as a passion project, which can be seen here [1]. Please take a look at my portfolio [2] to see some of my favorite projects.

I'm seeking to work with Rust (which I know well and am quite good at its advanced features).

I have 8 years of full-time professional experience (in addition to further experience).

I'm skilled at foreseeing how APIs should balance simplicity with flexible capability and what should be exposed or not, as appropriate for the level of the layer at hand. I enjoy using my lower-level knowledge to improve higher-level usage. I'm excellent at making clean, robust, maintainable code with great comments, and at doing debugging, research, and reviewing. I'm good at figuring-out and fixing complex bugs in multithreading. I've both maintained codebases as well as designed and implemented high-reliability high-performance parts, and so I know how to make the various aspects correct the first time.

I'm open to either a long-term position or a contract.

I’m a product designer with a passion for crafting user experiences that are not just visually appealing but also intuitive and enjoyable to use. Whether it’s a simple app or a complex business solution, I specialize in designing data-heavy interfaces that turn intricate information into clean, user-friendly designs.

I’m dedicated to seeing projects through from the first brainstorming session to the final launch. I love taking on complex challenges and transforming them into elegant, easy-to-use solutions. My approach is hands-on and detail-oriented: I dive deep into planning, create detailed prototypes, and ensure every pixel is in the right place before a product goes out the door. I believe in the power of data-driven design, but I also never forget the importance of making products that users will love.

I'm a software engineer that is tired of attempting to transition into the industry by taking adjacent jobs in tech. My decade long career has been defined by me taking a role on an IT/tech support team and finding ways to create software solutions for my work in order to demonstrate my engineering ability. This strategy has been unsuccessful aside from exposing me to software development at every layer of the stack with a large variety of disparate systems.

If you need a software engineer who's not going to shy away from any technology you put in front of her, I'm your gal.
